N6 307 Vanderslice Street

Vanderslice built this home for his daughter Angeline and her husband Dr. Levi Oberholtzer, who owned a large pharmacy on Bridge St.  Oberholtzer also manufactured gunpowder on the site of a Revolutionary War powder mill in Kimberton.  He also served in the Union Army during the Civil War and was later elected as a member of Phoenixville’s Borough Council.  Later this home became  Phoenixville’s Ukrainian Club.  In fact, there were several ethnic clubs that were established by the workers.  At one time there was an Italian Club and a Hungarian Club as well.  This building is now privately owned.
