Italian immigrants were excellent stone masons and came to the greater Philadelphia region in the late 19th century. Their workmanship created many beautiful churches from that time frame. The Baptist Church, crafted by Italian immigrants, was established in 1912, the same year as the B’nai Jacob Synagogue. The church is an excellent example of the Gothic Revival style that was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
This church is also one example of Phoenixville’s multi-cultural diversity that was spawned by the iron company and the railroad hiring immigrants, no matter where they came from or where they went to pray to get the work done!
