Norris Maris and his wife Ann lived with the Lewis family for 21 years. They participated with the Lewis family in their abolitionist work. Norris Maris purchased his own farm in 1854, near the intersection of Pughtown and Kimberton Roads, not far from the Lewis family property. His farm became another station on the Underground Railroad. He received fugitives from Maryland and Virginia, as well as those forwarded directly from the Lewis Family in West Vincent and John Vickers in Lionville.
