Where you see today’s apartments, imagine that you are standing on the north side of the creek, looking down at the iron company buildings. The iron company canal is at the bottom, adjacent to the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks. A large building with the tall stacks is where the open hearth furnaces were once located. To the right of that building was once the rolling mill. In the background, were slender towers atop the Reading Railroad train station. This area included the Bridge Company office, the iron company office and a school house. Workers would cross this bridge to get from the bridge and iron company offices close to Bridge Street to get to the manufacturing facilities.
