S25 Wells Fargo Bank – Corner of Main and Church streets 1925

This building was constructed in 1925. Its excellent Classical details clearly put it into the early 20th century time frame that preceded the Art Deco movement in the 1930’s.  It classical details exhibit the popularity of the Classical style that became very popular in the US after the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.  The “coining” at the corners, the Romanesque window and door openings and the ”dentals” near the top were all a part of this Classical revival in architecture.
